
Configuring Dial-Up Networking in Windows 95/98
Follow
the steps below to configure Microsoft Windows 95/98 Dial-Up Networking. Before
proceeding, you must have Dial-Up Networking installed. Please quit all applications
and close any open windows.
- Double-click the My Computer icon.

- Double-click the Dial-Up Networking folder.

- Double-click the Make New Connection icon.

- Delete the contents of the Type a name for the computer you are dialing
field, and type a name for the connection (i.e. First Class Solutions).
- Click the Next button.

- In the Area code field, type the area code for your access number.
- In the Telephone number field, type your access number.
Note: Remember to check with your local
telephone company to make sure that the number you choose is a local toll-free
call.
- Click the Next button.

- Click the Finish button.

- Right click the First Class Solutions icon. Note: (or whatever you named the icon earlier)

- From the File menu, choose Properties.

- Click on the Server Types tab.
- Uncheck all the boxes except for Enable software compression and
TCP/IP.
- Click the OK button.

- Right click the First Class Solutions icon. Note: (or whatever you named it earlier)

- From the File menu, choose Create Shortcut.

- Click the Yes button.

Congratulations! You have successfully configured
Dial-Up Networking! In order to connect, you would now double-click the First
Class Solutions shortcut you created on your desktop
